As past president I would like to take this opportunity to say that it has been a pleasure serving as President of the Pharmacy Society of Rochester for the past two years.

I enjoyed representing you at the PSSNY mid-year conventions and I had a chance to meet a lot of new people who also have the profession of Pharmacy foremost in their minds.

We established a working agreement with a grant writer to help us obtain funded CE programs. In 2008 ACPE changed the requirements for CE programs. Pharmaceutical companies are no longer allowed to give the speakers the CE programs to do. The speakers are to provide their own data and the Pharmaceutical companies can only offer unrestricted educational grants.

One of my goals as president was to establish a relationship with the new Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St John Fisher College. The school accepted students for its first class in August 2007 for graduation in 2010. I can say that we now have two students as board members of the organization and also a facility member as a board member and is President-Elect of PSR.

As a board member on the Scholarship Committee we hope to establish a Pharmacy Society of Rochester scholarship for a Wegmans School of pharmacy student based on need and active participation in both the local and state pharmaceutical societies.
