About PSR

The Pharmacy Society of Rochester is an affiliate of the Pharmacists Society of the State of New York. We represent the Pharmacists of Monroe and the five counties surrounding Monroe county including Cayuga, Livingston, Ontario, Seneca and Yates.

One of our primary objectives is to provide live continuing education programs at least 10 times per year to help our members fulfill the CE requirements for New York State and other states that they might be licensed in.

Message from the president

I am truly honored to represent the Pharmacy Society of Rochester (PSR) as President. The PSR board and membership has been very welcoming to me and my colleagues at St. John Fisher College, and I thank all of you for that. One of my goals is to increase student activity in advocating for the profession, such as attendance at legislative day in Albany. To do this the pharmacy students should have an appreciation for the hard work done by current and past pharmacists. Knowing this history, students are more likely to appreciate the current level of pharmacy practice and should also encourage them to continue moving the profession forward. Another goal is to involve PSR members in teaching students; one such practical application is certifying students for immunizations. Although PSR has a large membership (2nd largest in NY State) it should be even larger, and one way to increase membership is by making the students aware of the value of this organization. Having PSR members train and certify students for immunizations should achieve that goal. Since the society is actively involved in training students, I believe the students are much more likely to give back to the society by initiating and maintaining membership in PSR. Finally, I would like the membership to know that the board works hard at being responsive to your needs. We take your written comments and feedback seriously, and look to you for constructive feedback. If you ever have a comment or question please do not hesitate to contact me or any of the board members.

Sincerely,

Rich O’Brocta
